Only 567 Ridgefielders Currently Receive Town Alerts! Sign Up Now!

Did you know that 567 Ridgefielders have something that the remaining 9,000 households do not? These informed residents have signed up for Ridgefield Alerts, the town emergency notification system purchased because the state system allows municipalities to use the CTAlert system for immediate take-action emergencies only.
Many of you have asked, “Why don’t I get Rudy’s messages anymore?”
The State of Connecticut now restricts its emergency alert system to make sure it isn’t overloaded with non-relevant information. This is a good thing when it comes to alerting the public to a crisis. However, on a local level, municipal leaders like our First Selectman are no longer able to give residents useful more detailed information.
For example, the state system, in 45 words, will tell you to take shelter, the tornado is coming—critical information to all state residents. Ridgefield Alerts enhances the state system with more Ridgefield-specific information. Ridgefield Alerts will let you know if the town shelter is open for you and your pets. Ridgefield Alerts will relay safety recommendations from Fire and Police.
• In the aftermath, Ridgefield Alerts will give local specifics—where to find water, hours of available heating and cooling stations, road closures, estimated time for power restoration, what to do with storm debris, and more.
• Ridgefield Alerts also has an opt in segment to let you know about local things like town events that might disrupt traffic; general government information such as important town meetings or town building closures. The opt in segment is categorized so you can receive the information you want and eliminate that which you don’t want.
If we can reach you, we can’t alert you with the kind of information that will help protect you, your families, your pets, and your property. Don’t wait for the crisis, log on right now to ridgefieldalerts.com. (TIP: Use a different login username than you do for the state CTAlert system as both platforms are provided by Everbridge.)
