Berger-Girvalo Gains Endorsement of CT League of Conservation Voters and The Sierra Club

State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo, who is seeking reelection in the 111th State House District in Ridgefield, has received the endorsement of the CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) and the Sierra Club.

The endorsement comes as climate change’s impact on the environment has never been more evident. It’s resulted in extreme weather that has devastating effects on our health and that of agriculture and wildlife and can no longer be ignored. As a legislator, Berger-Girvalo  dedicated time and energy to ensuring our children inherit clean air and water and sustainable food sources.

“I am proud and honored to accept the endorsements of the CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) and the Sierra Club,” Berger-Girvalo said. “As a member of both the Environment and Transportation committees I understand the undeniable link between the environment and our economy. There is no time to lose for sensible climate solutions. The costs to our health and economy if we don't address this will far exceed any measures, we put in place to mitigate Climate Change.”

As a legislator, Berger-Girvalo worked to secure passage of House Bill 5506, which supports developing carbon-neutral plans for new transportation projects. It also created incentives for consumer and commercial electric vehicles and expanded financing for zero emission vehicle infrastructure. The bill also increased financing for building more solar power and fuel cells and reinforcing the state’s electric grid against the effects of climate change. The legislation also created a public health reporting system for homeowners plagued by an abundance of salt in their drinking water.

Berger-Girvalo also supported Clean Air Act legislation, (PA 22-25) that exempts electric charging stations from property tax assessments and provides incentives to local school to use electric school buses. In addition, the law creates a grant program to help municipalities improve traffic signals and sets a of achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions from electricity by 2040.
