
Gordon Sloat, 81, a long-time resident of Ridgefield, passed away on October 6, 2022.
Gordon was born on April 17, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island. Son of the late Avard and Annie Sloat, he grew up in Rhode Island and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following that, he completed a Master of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from New York University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. Gordon spent most of his career with two companies: Olin Corporation, where he worked as an Information Systems Manager for 29 years; and later for Arch Chemicals, where he was an SAP Senior Analyst for 11 years.
In his free time, Gordon loved traveling the world with his family and friends. He traveled to almost every state and to more than 70 countries and territories. He was an avid skier and spent a considerable amount of time skiing in the mountains of Vermont each winter with his family. He always had an insatiable thirst for information and although he was often a man of few words, he could be a man of many and enjoyed sharing the knowledge he learned throughout his life.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment with family and close friends will follow the next morning, Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Hillside Cemetery; 165 Ridgefield Road, Wilton.
