Young’s of Ridgefield recently joined forces with James Dunphy, a Boy Scout in Ridgefield’s Troop 76, to bring shade to the bocce courts at Founders Hall.
James, a senior at Ridgefield High School, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout after completing his Eagle Scout project. He installed two beautiful new pergolas to provide much-needed shade to the bocce-playing members at Founder’s Hall.
“When I took on this project, I didn’t realize how much work it would be to install the posts for the pergolas. I realized I needed to talk to someone who knew how deep to dig and how far apart to install the posts. A family friend works in the office at Young’s and recommended I reach out to their fence team. Edgar and George came on their day off and donated their time to oversee the installation of the posts. They were super friendly and helpful and literally got the job off the ground.”
Young’s, family owned since 1948, is proud to support the local Ridgefield community through various service projects and generously donated their team’s time to assist James and his team of Boy Scouts in the installation of the pergolas. When installing a pergola, proper placement and alignment of the posts is vital to the success and longevity of the structure. The fencing professionals at Young’s are experts at installing all types of posts for fencing, gates, mailboxes, and pergolas.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process.
