Kate Hudson stars in A Little White Lie based on book written by Ridgefielder

Coming to theaters on March 3rd, the independent film "A Little White Lie" stars Kate Hudson and Michael Shannon. This film has Connecticut roots as it is based on "Shriver: A Novel" by Ridgefielder, Chris Belden and directed by Connecticut director, Michael Maren.
In "A Little White Lie," Simone Cleary (Hudson), a university professor, meets a man (Shannon) she believes to be the famous recluse author, Shriver. She invites him to her university's literary festival hoping that his appearance will draw a crowd. "Shriver" goes along with the little white lie. What could possibly go wrong? The one thing "Shriver" didn't expect; another man shows up at the literary festival claiming to be the real Shriver.
A decade ago, Maren heard Belden give a reading of "Shriver" at a bookstore and was drawn to the humor in the novel. Maren wanted to turn the book into a film but it was a long road, which is common for independent films. While they faced challenges getting a crew together to film initially, then financial roadblocks, next illness; they finally started shooting in February of 2020. Then the Covid pandemic hit and filming was put on hold. Over a year later, they were able to finish filming. Ridgefield's own Chris Belden makes an appearance in the film as a folk singer who annoys Simone Cleary (Hudson). The cast of this imposter-syndrome-focused film includes Zac Braff, Don Johnson, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Jimmi Simpson, Wendie Malick, and M. Emmett Walsh.
