
This dynamic duo was spotted walking briskly on Main Street this morning. Training treats at the ready, Ridgefield resident Tyler Burton was socializing her new pup Remy, a 14-week-old Viszla who (I learned) is the second fastest dog breed (behind the greyhound).
But, Remy’s human is more than up for the speedy challenge. “This is my fourth Viszla,” said Tyler who adds, “They are intelligent and sweet companions.”
If you are a frequent downtown walker (or runner), you may recognize Tyler Burton as yellow lab Howie’s sidekick. Donning a navy blue vest, Howie quickly became a recognizable and loved community member. “I trained Howie for a year through the organization Dogs For Better Lives.
Howie was one lucky dog. And, so is Remy!
Dogs for Better Lives (DBL, formerly known as Dogs for the Deaf) is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit with campuses in Central Point, Oregon and Falmouth, Massachusetts. DBL rescues or breeds, trains, and places Assistance Dogs free of charge with deaf or hard-of-hearing adults, children diagnosed with autism, and licensed professionals working with vulnerable communities so people with disabilities can lead safer and more independent lives.
