The Friends of Weir Farm National Historical Park announce the online auction of the wooden life-size silhouettes from the outdoor art installation of Art Bears that was on exhibit at Weir Farm National Historical Park (NHP) from May 2022 through October 2023. 

Eight bears to be sold in the not-for-profit’s fundraising auction feature a unique colorful painting by a contemporary artist of a scene at Weir Farm NHP. Sixteen smaller blank bear cub wooden silhouettes will be auctioned as well.

Local artists whose work is featured on the Art Bears include: Tiffany Johnson, Bobbi Eike Mullen, Pam Rogers, Dan Sharkey, Alissa Siegal, Christina Tugeau, Sharman Wheatley, and Dmitri Wright. Links to these artists’ websites are available in the descriptions of each item in the auction.

Judy Wander, President of Friends of Weir Farm NHP, stated “The Friends of Weir Farm are excited to be auctioning the one-of-a kind Art Bears and the adorable cubs. They will be a wonderful artistic addition to any lawn, patio, or garden.“

You can bid online at https://www.32auctions.com/ArtBears, from 9 am on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 through 5pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Friends of Weir Farm is an all-volunteer not-for-profit and the official philanthropic partner of Weir Farm NHP. All funds raised in this auction will be used to support of the Park’s Artist-in-Residence Program, which features monthly Open Studios for Park visitors from May to October.
