Last Sunday at Peter Parley Schoolhouse on Oct. 27: There will be treats!

Come in costume and get a treat at the Peter Parley Schoolhouse (West Lane at South Salem Road) on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 4 at the final Sunday at the Schoolhouse of 2024, presented by the Ridgefield Historical Society.

Jack and Sally Sanders will be on hand to answer questions about the little one-room school where families in the West Lane District sent their children for a basic education, from 1756 to 1915. Among its prominent graduates were Samuel G. Goodrich (Peter Parley), Charles A. Goodrich, Abigail Goodrich Whittelsey, and Cyrus B. Northrop.

Since it’s the spooky season, we’ll have some print-outs of slightly scary stories and we can tell you about some of the pranks that schoolchildren perpetrated, not just for Halloween.
