Ridgefield Boys Cross Country Team Wins Back-to-Back New England Championship Titles

The Ridgefield High School boys cross country team clinched the New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championship title in a decisive victory at Wickham Park on November 9, continuing their season-long streak of dominance. The team scored an impressive 63 points, a substantial lead over runner-up East Lyme’s 160 points. For context, lower scores signify better performance in cross country, making Ridgefield's achievement especially notable.

“This team has consistently raised the bar all season,” shared John Goetz on social media, adding, “Their performance yesterday was the culmination of their hard work, focus, and commitment.” Ridgefield’s victory at the New England Championship caps a season that also saw the team taking home titles as FCIAC, CT Class LL, and CT Open champions, cementing their place at the top of Connecticut’s cross country rankings.

Noteworthy Performances and Exceptional Teamwork

Leading the charge was Magnus Manley, who kept a steady pace of 5:02 per mile, setting the tone for Ridgefield’s strong finish.

"Congrats to Coach Bryan Kovalsky, Magnus Manley, Charles Lovett, Trevor Fuller, Sullivan Dunn, Aidan Nelson, Alexander Glenn, and Samuel Allen," Goetz said.
