Ridgefield High School Bids Farewell to Coach Kevin Callahan

The Ridgefield High School (RHS) community is gearing up to celebrate the remarkable career of Head Football Coach Kevin Callahan, who has announced his retirement at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Coach Callahan's distinguished 32-year coaching career includes 24 years leading the RHS Tiger Football team.

To honor Coach Callahan's many years of leadership and commitment, the RHS community will host a celebration at Nod Hill Brewery Biergarten on Saturday, June 29th, from 3 to 6 pm.

Attending the celebration is free, but RSVPs are requested to help the Biergarten anticipate needs.  RSVP here.

Beverages and food will be available for individual purchase. Due to limited parking, carpooling is encouraged.

End of an Era

Coach Callahan's coaching journey began in 1991 at Bullard Havens Tech. He then spent seven years at his alma mater, Notre Dame-Fairfield, before joining Ridgefield High School in 1999. Under his leadership, the Tigers established themselves as a formidable force in the FCIAC and at the state level, capturing the CIAC Class L State Championship in 2002 and finishing as CIAC Class LL State Runners-up in 2016.

Coach Callahan's contributions to high school football have earned him numerous accolades, including induction into the Notre Dame-Fairfield Hall of Fame, recognition as the Connecticut High School Coaches Association's Football Coach of the Year in 2019, and induction into the FCIAC Hall of Honor in 2024.

RHS Athletics Director Dane Street expressed his gratitude, stating, "It's been a pleasure working with Kevin over the past eight years. Few people recognize how much work and effort goes on behind the scenes all year long within the football program, and I cannot thank Kevin enough for all he has done for the Tiger football program and the student-athletes of RHS."

In case of rain, updates will be posted on the team's social media pages and website:

Join us on June 29th to congratulate Coach Callahan and wish him the very best in his retirement!
