Ridgefield Public Schools announced that head Ridgefield High School Boys Soccer Coach Phil Bergen has announced his retirement from coaching at RHS.

Coach Bergen has been coaching high school boys soccer at RHS for 32 years and assumed the role of Varsity Head Coach in 2004. During his tenure, the Tigers won FCIAC Championships and Class LL State Championships in 2007 and 2013. Coach Bergen is a proud alum of Ridgefield High School graduating in 1984.

RHS Athletics Director Dane Street said “Phil is passionate about the game of soccer and has certainly left his mark on the Ridgefield High School boys’ soccer program. It is nearly unheard of in this day and age to have a high school coach with one program for as long as Phil has been here and his resume of accomplishments speaks for itself. We will begin the work of trying to fill his shoes and wish him the best in his retirement!”

We hope the community will join us in congratulating Coach Bergen on a wonderful career as a dedicated coach at Ridgefield High School.
