Jen Carlson writes on the Carlson family Go Fund Me page, “Thank you so much for being there for Chris, and in so many ways, over the years as he fought cancer so fiercely and with so much positivity. I am heartbroken to have to write this update. Chris passed on Wednesday, March 27th just after 5 p.m. As you know, family and music meant so much to him, and he was surrounded by family and listening to his favorite songs when he passed. While most of the playlists we were playing off of his phone for two days featured Phish, Widespread Panic, Taylor Swift, and others he's quoted in his updates here, at around 5 p.m. Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" started, a departure from anything else we had heard prior. By the end of the song he was gone. It was a long gray day, but as we all got home the raindrops falling from the sky were suddenly struck by rays of sunlight, and we were greeted by a massive double rainbow. We have no doubt this was Chris saying hello, and letting us know he was okay.”
