Mark your calendars! Commander George Besse, American Legion Post 78 has announced that Ridgefield’s annual Memorial Day Parade will step off at 11:30 am on Monday, May 27th. This is one of the most beloved community events that celebrates and honors the men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country.
The parade begins at 11:30 from Jesse Lee Church marching down Main Street ending in Ballard Park with a closing ceremony featuring short speeches and patriotic music.
The parade features six marching bands, participation of over 50 organizations, a military flyover, many floats, vehicles and an estimated 1500 marchers.
This year the Grand Marshal is LT. Frank Casey. Lt. Casey is a Vietnam Veteran who served his country for five years.American Legion Post 78 started organizing this parade in 1921, one year after they received their charter and has coordinated the parade details ever since. “Hope to see you all there!” says Besse.
