Ridgefield's Memorial Day Parade: 1500 Marchers, 6 Bands, Military Flyover

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Mark your calendars, Ridgefield’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 27th. The parade begins at 11:30 from Jesse Lee Church marching down Main Street ending in Ballard Park with a closing ceremony.

The parade features six marching bands, participation of over 50 organizations, a military flyover, many floats, vehicles and an estimated 1500 marchers.

This year the Grand Marshal is Cpt. Frank Casey. Cpt. Casey is a Vietnam Veteran who served his country for five years. After graduating from Hofstra University’s ROTC program, he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division where he became a parachutist, earning a pathfinder’s badge and was a jumpmaster.

He was assigned to the Military Advisory Command in Vietnam where he earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and a Purple Heart. He was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division as an Infantry and Staff Officer. Then with the 506th Infantry (Airborne) where he was awarded an Air Medal and a Bronze Star. He finished his military career with the military intelligence department in the Pentagon.
