Special Town Meeting Wednesday: VOTE on Proposed 66 Grove Street Lease

Board of Selectpersons Meeting and Special Town Meeting Set for October 9
The Board of Selectpersons (BOS) will be holding a Special Town Meeting on Wednesday, October 9, at 7:30 PM at Scotts Ridge Middle School (750 N Salem Road). Two important items are on the agenda, and town residents are encouraged to participate.
Key Agenda Items:
- 66 Grove Street Lease: A vote will be held on the proposed lease for 66 Grove Street, intended for use by the Ridgefield Board of Education. This space will serve two student groups: the Ridgefield Transition Program (RTP) for students aged 18-22, and the Alternative High School.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susie DaSilva has expressed strong support for the proposal, In her newsletter today, she highlighted the importance of this lease, stating, "The objective of this new space is to support two student groups... the current space for both of these programs is no longer able to meet the growth or programming goals and vision. This new space is both financially responsible, and most importantly, serves students within our community."
DaSilva recommends that before the vote, listen to the Ridgefield Tiger Talk podcast and Last Monday's Superintendent's Report to the BOE (approximately 36 min mark). This will give you insight into the project in advance of the October 9 town vote on the lease.
- Old Branchville School House Lease: Residents will vote on a proposed lease between the Ridgefield Historical Society and the Town of Ridgefield. The goal is to restore the Old Branchville School House, preserving a significant piece of the town’s history.
