St. Stephen’s in Ridgefield screens powerful documentary "Bad Faith" on May 30

St. Stephen’s in Ridgefield will screen the powerful new documentary “Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism’s Unholy War on Democracy” on Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m. in North Hall.
The 90-minute documentary, which explores the rise of Christian Nationalism in the U.S., features religious leaders, historians, journalists, political activists, and sociologists. The evening will include a brief discussion of “Bad Faith” and information on the June 29 Poor People’s March on Washington. A 2023 Brookings Institution survey found a high correlation between Christian Nationalism and white supremacy, anti-immigrant views, belief in patriarchal gender roles and the use of violence to achieve political ends.
“Our aim in starting a conversation about Christian Nationalism is to demonstrate what it means to ‘love your neighbor’ by caring about the neighbor’s concerns,” said The Rev. Whitney Altopp, rector of St. Stephen’s. To attend, please register on the church website, www.ststephensridgefield.org, or at the door on May 30.
