622 Main Street in Ridgefield, the corner where Main meets Danbury, will never be the same. We learned today that Tony’s Corner Deli, owned and operated by Rosely and Domenick Servedio for fourteen years, has permanently closed.
Rosely and Domenick posted this letter on their Facebook page today.
We want to thank all of our customers for the last 14 years for your patronage. It’s been a pleasure serving this community and we have endured some beautiful friendships with our customers and will cherish them forever.
Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic has brought our business to its knees and we were not able to recover. We were so optimistic and hopeful that we would ride the wave and come out on top again.
We have been on the market trying to sell for a year and a half. We finally had someone serious come to the table and were moving forward to secure the deal. Our landlord stole the deal behind our back with the new potential buyer and we were forced to shut the doors and walk away.
Sincerely,
Rosely and Domenick
Thank you, Rosely and Domenick, for being integral parts of Ridgefield's fabric. Whether it was enjoying your incredible bacon and egg sandwiches on our way to early morning sporting events with our kids, grabbing a local paper, or sitting inside where casual conversations flowed, your presence enhanced our community.
Corner History
That iconic corner, known as “Joe’s Corner” by many locals, is steeped in history. Several years ago, Terri Garlick wrote an article for Ridgefield Magazine about the significance of “Joe’s Corner”. Read it here.
