Why Small Businesses Matter in Ridgefield: Wooster Hollow Cafe

Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
Meet Ronald Herman, owner of Wooster Hollow Cafe.
Why did you start your business?
I purchased Wooster Hollow Cafe on December 24, 2024... Christmas Eve! I always wanted to own a business, so after I retired from a 30-year career with GE, I purchased Wooster Hollow. It was the first of six small businesses that I own [including soon to open Sunrise Cafe at the Meetinghouse].
What is your best-selling product/service?
Our Wooster Slam (which is a combo plate of eggs, home-fried potatoes, bacon, toast and pancakes)
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Many...including Wades Dairy, Ace Endico, Finest Bakery, TM Wards Coffee
Have you reimagined your small business?
We became super focused on serving breakfast. When we did this, we stopped serving dinner and changed the name from Wooster Hollow Diner, Deli & Pizza to Wooster Hollow Cafe. We changed our hours to 7 am to 3 pm every day. This helps us attract and keep our great staff who value spending time with their family after school and in the evenings.
