Share your memories, artwork or written ode to this iconic statue.
Created by Somers resident Luigi Badia & commissioned by Somers Historical Society, the new Old Bet statue will replace the existing sculpture atop the monument in front of the National Landmark Elephant Hotel. The new sculpture is currently on display in the Elephant Hotel until its formal dedication later this spring.
In celebration of National Preservation Month in May and to welcome the new, bronze sculpture to our community, Somers Historical Society & Somers Library invite all Somers residents to create their interpretation of the iconic local landmark for display in Somers Library during the month of May. Your rendition may be in any written or visual format - for example: a poem, photo, drawing, sculpture, needlework, etc.
Submissions dropped off at Somers Library by April 29 and will be displayed in the library through the month of May. Please see the form attached or call the library to get a submission form.
