SilverSource Receives $50,000 Grant to Help Struggling Seniors Stay in their Homes

SilverSource, the nonprofit agency providing services and resources for older adults in the Stamford area, received a $50,000 grant from the John H. & Ethel G. Noble Charitable Trust to support the organization’s Individual Assistance: Housing Stability Program in 2022.
The SilverSource Housing Stability Program provides financial assistance, counseling and advocacy to address urgent needs and keep older adults in their homes, including eviction prevention, utility payments and other supports that allow seniors to age in place safely.
According to SilverSource CEO Kathleen Bordelon, the goal of the program is for older neighbors to avoid homelessness, transition to more affordable housing and achieve economic stability. Last year, the SilverSource social work team assisted hundreds of older adults with emergency housing stability and safety issues through the agency’s Individual Assistance Program, and managed thousands of cases in support of seniors in need.
“Our program helps older adults maintain their livable, safe housing, and reduces the risk of homelessness due to financial insecurity,” added Bordelon. “With this support from the Noble Charitable Trust, we can provide even more of Stamford’s low-income seniors with financial assistance so they can age in place safely in their homes.”
