Norwalk Youth Symphony Celebrates 60th Anniversary at Fall Concert
The Norwalk Youth Symphony is comprised of approximately 240 students in grades 4 through 12 from 25 towns throughout Fairfield, New Haven, Litchfield and Westchester counties.
The Norwalk Youth Symphony (NYS) will celebrate their 6oth Anniversary at their Annual Fall Concert on November 22, 2015 at 3:00PM at the Norwalk Concert Hall located at 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut.
The upcoming concert will feature performances by six tiered NYS orchestras: Jr. Strings and Prelude Orchestra, conducted by Susan Jimenez; Philharmonia Orchestral Winds under the baton of Mary Gardner; Philharmonia String Orchestra under the direction of Jessica McNamara; Concert Orchestra conducted by Russell Ger and Principal Orchestra under the baton of NYS Music Director Jonathan Yates.
This special 60th Anniversary concert will have Alumni playing alongside the orchestra. The Honorary Chair of the Alumni Concert is NYS Alumna Barli Nugent, Assistant Dean at The Julliard School.
The repertoire will include: TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 4, DVORAK Symphony No. 8, 1st Movement, LISZT Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 (arr. Mueller-Berghaus), SENAILLE Allegro from Sonata No. 4 (arr. Errante), SIBELIUS, Andante Festivo.
Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students and are available at the door before the concert. Potential members and their families, music teachers, and children age 5 and under are admitted free.
