The Westport Arts Center (WAC) reports that over 400 guests attended their annual fundraiser on May 18. The Art Noir Ball was held at the Steel Shed in South Norwalk and featured a night of revelry in support of WAC and its programs.
“It was amazing to see friends, members, and patrons gather together for a night of celebration in the name of the arts. The Art Noir Ball delivered a spectacular feast for the senses and all who came reveled the night away to help support the Westport Arts Center's programming,” said Peter Van Heerden, WAC Executive Director “We want to thank everyone who attended for their spirit and giving.”
Weston resident and philanthropist Bill Felton was the evening's honoree. Of the evening, Felton said, “It was great to see the community behind Westport Arts Center, and Westport Arts Center behind the community, The Arts Center is making a positive impact on society by reaching out to new areas-- not just children of all ages, but to patients at Yale-New Haven Smilow Cancer Center. The Art Noir Ball was high-end and elegant—filled with great food, great music, and great people."
Silvia Durno, Art Noir Ball co-chair, added, "The Art Noir Ball was truly an evening full of spectacle and surprise! Guests were able to come together to celebrate and support what makes Westport Arts Center such a vibrant and essential part of our community. The collective efforts that went into conjuring the Art Noir Ball were simply amazing! The event could not have happened without the dedicated committee members, generous donors, and devoted staff, and to all of them we would like to extend our sincerest thanks for making the evening so memorable.”
WAC will unveil their summer exhibit, entitled "Bird's-Eye View" and curated by Director of Visual Arts Helen Klisser During, on June 14 with an opening reception from 6 - 8 p.m.
