This afternoon my sons and I stopped at Bartaco, Westport's relatively new Mexican restaurant situated on the western side of the Saugatuck.
This isn't meant to be a review, as we only sampled some crisp chips and spicy salsa verde, a few of the menu's exotic tacos (duck, fried oyster, and sesame ribeye), along with some sizzling $2 kids beef tacos and a sweet chocolate tamale for dessert. The upshot is that the food is great and reasonably priced ($24 for our meal), the views spectacular, and the atmosphere family friendly. Kids can use the little blue pencils to check off the tacos they want on the order cards, and in addition, the hostess came by within the first five minutes to bring my younger son some coloring and activity books. As you can see from the photos, other families had the same idea this afternoon. When spring comes, outdoor dining will return, and children will be able to run around on the river deck while their parents wait for a table at this popular destination.
Bartaco is located at 20 Wilton Road, across the bridge from Starbucks. Parking is on Wilton Road behind the restaurant.
