THE COURSES: Although roads are not closed both courses are well maintained and protected by the Weston Police and many volunteers.
The 5K course has some rolling hills and one water stop. It's a simple loop course on quiet roads and all miles are marked. Course map link: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6945597
The challenging Half Marathon course has FIVE water stops, great directional signage, and all miles are marked. There's terrific Autumn scenery to keep you relaxed and 'occupied'! Course map link: https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7160881
HALF MARATHON DESCRIPTION: In the first half of the course you'll travel on rolling hills along the border of the Saugatuck Reservoir. After running past the Reservoir dam you'll fly downhill for over a half mile along the Saugatuck River and the area known as 'Devils Den'. Next you'll enjoy over a two mile long stretch of flat road, still along the river. You'll pass some of the stately homes historic Weston is known for.
The last two miles will test your endurance as you work your way back up to Weston High where you'll receive your well earned finishers medal.
AFTER YOUR GREAT FINISH: You'll collect your Finisher's Medal and go back to the cafeteria where you will be treated to a terrific variety of foods, fluids and nationally recognized Yummy Cookies. There will be entertainment while you eat, relax, re-hydrate and get ready for the awards and raffle. Don't leave - you must be present to win great gifts.
Only the 5K has age divisions 9 & under, and 10-13. BOTH 5K & Half Marathon events have age groups 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ For accurate results and awards we do need to wait untill a majority of finishers are in so that all age groups are represented.
SHIRTS: T-shirt size is guaranteed thru midnight October 14. After that date shirt sizing will be "as available". Shirt ordering and printing must be done in advance to insure completion in time for distribution.
AMENITIES: There is plenty of parking, lots of bathrooms and a warm gym for late registration and pre-reg pickup starting at 7 am.
OUR DONATIONS: Proceeds from the Reservoir Run Half Marathon will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank Kids’ BackPack Program that provides weekend meals to more than 3,300 children who are at risk of hunger when not in school. Additional funds are donated thru the Weston Kiwanis Club Foundation to local youth organizations.
The 5K proceeds are donated to the Weston Boosters Club.
