Staples Grad Carleigh Jade Making a Splash as a Professional Singer

By Mike Lauterborn

Carleigh Jade has been making quite a name for herself as a singer performing in New York City. Her next gig will be at The Bitter End, located at 147 Bleecker St. in Manhattan, on Friday, March 16 at 8 pm. Cost is $10 at the door.

A 2008 graduate of Staples High School, Jade began her musical career as Lola in Damn Yankees at Coleytown Middle School. She went on to study music at Columbia College of the Arts in Chicago, where she fronted the band Redline (appropriately named because the band members had to ride the redline train to meet for rehearsals). Carleigh moved to NYC in 2010 where she resumed her musical education at The New School and formed the Carleigh Jade band.

Jade writes all her own music and has spent a lot of time in the studio recording her work. Her band has gained a lot of notoriety and plays in clubs all over NYC. She was recently approached to go on tour with the group TranSiberian Orchestra and has been in discussions with a major network about starring in a reality show about her life and career.

Her music is edgy rock and roll and can be heard on SOUNDCLOUD at the following link: http://soundcloud.com/carleigh
