The same famous Oscar-winning actor who starred in Field of Dreams and Dances with Wolves is bringing his band Modern West to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Tuesday, April 10 at 8 p.m. to demonstrate yet another dimension of his artistry! The band makes music that is rough-edged, honest, and true.
Not the typical movie star persona when he is in band mode, Costner’s music is from the heart as he sings about freight trains and broken dreams. Whether on a movie set or a concert stage in faded jeans, Costner exudes the same understated sex appeal.
As Costner explains, “I always thought that music could build a stronger, more personal moment for me. It would create the opportunity for a genuine exchange much greater than the movie, TV interview or magazine.”
The band was born from a shared love of music and is comprised of a tight-knit group of longtime friends Teddy Morgan on lead guitar, Larry Cobb on drums, Park Chisolm on vocals and guitar, Roddy Chong, Bobby Yang, and Luke Bulla who burn up the fiddle. Kevin Costner and Modern West draw their influences from a broad tapestry of American music and beyond. The show itself features original material penned by the band as well as cover songs written by some of music’s giants.
The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main St. in Ridgefield, Conn.
