Wiremill Academy, a Gem in Georgetown

Wiremill Academy has quickly gained recognition for developing the artistic talents of our children in the Wilton area.  Located in the old Gilbert and Bennett School in Georgetown, Wiremill Academy has a acting, musical theater, dancing and private sessions for children and adults.

Wiremill is run by 3 outstanding Broadway actors – MaryJo Duffy, Rick Hilsabeck and Sarah Pfisterer.  Each brings to the school talent, excitement and experience gained from years of performing and teaching. Together the represent many years of Broadway, touring, and regional singing, acting, and dancing experience.

The primary goal of the Wiremill Academy is to develop artistic talent in young people. In fun and interactive workshops and classes, the children are encouraged to ask questions, think about themselves and the world in new ways, while taking risks in order to learn important artistic lessons. Through their experiences, the children will not only discover the power of creative expression, but they will develop their potential as individuals as well as performers.

This Summer, my daughter and her friends took part in their summer musical program, and I experienced firsthand how fun and educational Wiremill can be. I was blown away by how confident, carefree and excited the children and my daughter were to be part of their first musical production!

The new fall programs offered at Wiremill Academy have been listed on their website and more will be added in December.

"Education in the arts fosters diplomacy, good communication and listening skills, and the ability to embrace new challenges; it builds self esteem, and teaches discipline. Regardless of their career path, young people will carry these tools with them for their entire lives. The arts are an essential component in a complete education." - Mary Jon, Sarah and Rick
