The leaves are starting to fall, which means it must be time for Minks to Sinks, Wilton's semi-annual tag sale. According to Trish Weber, Chairwoman for the 2013 Fall Sale, "This sale isn't just a win-win, it's actually a quadruple win!" First, she explains that everything offered at the sale comes from local residents, "It gives them a good reason to clean out their attics, closets and garages to consign or donate items they are no longer using. Without their generosity, this sale couldn't exist." Second, this year the organization is 194 Members strong—an all time high. "It's so great to see women of all ages working together to pull off this momentous task. These women are willing to pull up their sleeves and get dirty for a good cause." Third, it provides hundreds of shoppers with bargains on everything from sinks, household items, furniture, luggage, garden tools, kids toys, bicycles, sports equipment, seasonal clothing and, of course, 1 or 2 minks. Trish explains, "It's the ultimate recycling effort. Shoppers include young adults furnishing their first apartment, new families with infants picking up an extra stroller, and treasure hunters looking for a big score. It's so rewarding to see all this stuff go to good use rather than get tossed out." Finally and most importantly, Minks to Sinks raises money for a worthy cause. "We are proud to announce that since 1973, we have raised $2.5 million dollars for Family & Children's Agency," according to Minks to Sinks Treasurer, Yolanda Bonomo. FCA is the Norwalk-based non-profit agency that provides much needed social services to individuals and families in need in the surrounding communities (for more information go to www.familyandchildrensagency.org.)
