Following up on the extremely popular spring lecture series on the Industrial Revolution, The Wilton Historical Society is offering a "field trip" to the Windham Textile and History Museum (The Mill Museum of Connecticut) in Willimantic. Jamie Eves, Director of the Mill Museum, was a speaker at series whose lecture was titled "The Rise and Fall of the Connecticut Textile Industry". He will provide a guided tour of approximately one hour. Weather permitting, the tour will include a "mill neighborhood" walk. Leslie Nolan, Director of the Wilton Historical Society, will be leading the field trip.

The group will gather at the parking lot at the Wilton Historical Society at 9:00 on Friday, May 30 and carpool, arriving by about 11:00. Or, participants can drive on their own and meet the group at 11:00. There is a $5.00 per person charge, which covers the entry fee and tour of the Mill Museum. Following the tour, lunch on your own, or join a group lunch at the Willimantic Brewing Co./Main St. Cafe.

The Mill Museum of Connecticut (the Windham Textile and History Museum), located in the historic former headquarters of the American Thread Company of Willimantic, Connecticut, houses a museum, a library, and an archive. Though its exhibits, programs, and collections, the museum preserves and interprets the history of textiles, textile arts and the textile industry, with special emphasis on the experiences of the craftspeople, industrial workers, manufacturers, inventors, designers, and consumers.
