Wilton High School Senior, Rachael Jones, was awarded IBM's prestigious 2014 Thomas J. Watson Memorial Scholarship. Student winners from across the U.S. competed for the cash scholarship. The 300 winners for 2014 were selected by an independent panel from International Scholarship & Tuition Services in Nashville, TN, based on their SAT or ACT scores, demonstrated leadership and junior year academic performance. A High Honor student at WHS, Rachael will attend Dartmouth in the fall.
The Watson Scholarship program began in 1957, in honor of IBM founder Thomas J. Watson Sr., to recognize academic excellence by high school students planning to pursue a traditional baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year college, university or military academy in the U.S. This tradition continues with 301 children of U.S. IBM employees being honored this year for academic achievement. In total, the company has awarded more than $210 million in scholarships to over 16,000 students
