New Canaan Family Organize a Bone Marrow Drive in Darien
A bone marrow drive is being held on Sunday, June 7th from 9am - 3pm at Woodway Country Club in Darien in honor of New Canaan resident Kendra Seth, who is struggling with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) a blood disorder, and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. The process isn't as scary as it sounds. It's actually a quick swab of the mouth that will take approximately 10 minutes. I did mine in the UK so I am already on the worldwide register.
If you are ultimately called from the donor pool it is just a donation of blood and is an outpatient procedure.
More information about MDS is available here: http://www.mds-foundation.org/what-is-mds/
Kendra is mother of New Canaan Country School students Dylan ’19, Ryan ’18, and Tucker ’15 and alumnus Henry ’13. For a school project this year, Dylan focused on raising awareness about MDS.
