Add some Irish to your holiday season with The Irish Rovers at The Ridgefield Playhouse on December 5

Celebrate the Holiday Season with The Irish Rovers Holiday Show on December 5 at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Icons of Irish music, The Irish Rovers have roved freely around the world for half-a-century and sold millions of recordings with over 40 albums, all while delivering rousing and rambunctious stage shows filled with Irish music and good cheer!  Fans of Celtic music will have another chance to hear their Irish heroes when The Ridgefield Playhouse and Palm Bay International World Beat Series bring The Irish Rovers Holiday Show to town on Saturday, December 5 at 8pm.  The celebration will honor 50 Years of Music and fans will relive their early hits like “The Unicorn,” “Whisky on a Sunday,” and “Wasn’t That A Party,” plus well known holiday favorites like “Christmas in Killarney” “Oh, Holy Night,” “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and new Christmas favorite “Must Be Santa!”  As part of the Palm Bay International World Beat Series, with media sponsors 90.7fm WFUV, the evening begins with a wine tasting at 7:15 p.m. in the lobby.  Before the show visit Tom Tom’s Restaurant (417 Main Street, Ridgefield) for dinner and enjoy a complimentary glass of house wine with your entrée when tickets are presented.

The Irish Rovers first became known on American television in the 60s. As guests on The Tonight Show, The Smothers Brothers Show, Mike Douglas Show, The Virginian, The Dating Game (George Millar actually won the date), and many more, they gained experience before hosting their first of three television series “The Irish Rovers Show” in the 70’s. These days, they’re back on the radio, releasing television specials, and they’ve gone viral with “Drunken Sailor!” The band line-up consists of Fred Graham (bodhran), Ian Millar (guitar/bass), Geoffrey Kelly (whistle and flute), Wilcil McDowell, (accordion), Sean O’Driscoll (banjo/mandolin/box), Morris Crum (keyboards), George Millar (guitar), Gerry O’Connor (fiddle).
