Fairfield University Professor & her husband were killed in a tragic car accident yesterday

Connecticut residents were among five who died in a tragic accident yesterday on I-95 in Miami-Dade Florida.

Fairfield University Professor, Dr. Gisela Gil-Egui along with her husband Jose Labrador, a Director of Education Technology at Housatonic Community College, were among those killed in what police say was a "wrong way crash". The couple lived in Bridgeport. Dr. Gisela Gil-Egui's mother and brother were also killed in the accident.

With a heavy heart, the Fairfield University community mourns the loss of our friend and colleague Dr. Gisela Gil-Egui along with her husband Jose, her mother and brother. Gisela was a beloved member of our campus community and will be greatly missed. Please join us in offering condolences and prayers for friends, family and all those affected by this tragedy. A memorial service will be planned upon the start of the Spring semester.
