CEO and Co-Founder of Barteca Restaurant Group, Andy Pforzheimer, a longtime resident of Wilton, was recently named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2016.

According to Barteca's website, Pforzheimer, a Harvard grad, has been a restaurant professional for over 30 years. He served a classic two-year apprenticeship in Burgundy in 1980 & 1981, after which he worked in kitchens across America: for Jeremiah Tower at Stars in San Francisco, for Anne Rosenzweig at Arcadia and the ‘21’ Club in New York, for Patrick Healy at Colette in Los Angeles. He was an Executive Chef in some of New York’s hottest restaurants in the late 1980’s and early 90’s, then moved to Connecticut to be the original Food Editor for Martha Stewart Living. He owned his own catering and consulting business, then opened the first Barcelona in 1995.

The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. According to a news release, Pforzheimer was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a special gala event at the Marriott Marquis on June 22, 2016.
