Hello, Wilton Residents,

I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful autumn, with its blue skies, warm days, and the stunning New England foliage. It’s election season once again, and discussions around Wilton’s 2026 budget have already begun. Town Hall is buzzing with plans and conversations about the future. Here’s the latest update from our office.

Heating Assistance from Eversource

Eversource has launched their energy assistance program to support those in need with heating or electric costs this winter. For details on available options and programs, visit their site: Payment Plans & Assistance | Eversource.

Hawthorne Brush Fire

Following the severe flooding in August, we now face a brush fire threat due to a two-month dry spell. Governor Lamont declared a Civil Preparedness Emergency after the Hawthorne brush fire began on October 21. This fire has spread across Berlin and Meriden and threatens additional areas. As Wilton is now under a Red Flag Warning, outdoor fires and grills are strictly prohibited. Also, avoid parking over dry leaves, as this could unintentionally start a fire.

Aquarion Water Company Mailing

Some residents received a notice from Aquarion with the subject “Notice of Unknown Water Service Materials.” Rest assured that Aquarion has confirmed the water remains safe. The notice relates to new water treatment standards set by the U.S. EPA. For further information, visit the links below:

Steel Topping Ceremony

Wilton marked a milestone in the construction of our new police station with a Steel Topping Ceremony. Supporters gathered as the final steel beam was signed and hoisted into place. Special thanks to Police Chief Tom Conlan, Assistant Director of Public Works Jeff Pardo, Tecton Architects' designer Lauren Bord, and all others involved. It was a morning of celebration, laughter, and donuts!

Wilton’s Golden Miles

Join the Wilton Garden Club this Saturday, November 2, from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, for the last planting session of the "Golden Miles" daffodil project at Town Hall. We’re planting 2,000 bulbs to beautify our town this spring. Volunteers are welcome!

Wilton High School’s "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"

Wilton High School’s theater production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens on November 8, with additional shows on the 9th and 10th at the Clune Center for the Performing Arts. For tickets, visit wiltonhighschooltheatre.com.

The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority's annual billboard contest is open for submissions until November 15. This year’s theme is “Batteries Can Cause Fires.” The winning design will be displayed on HART buses in spring 2025. Learn more here.

Harlem Wizards Game with Wilton Education Foundation

The Harlem Wizards faced off against the Wilton Warriors All Stars, composed of local teachers, principals, and students. This fundraiser for the Wilton Education Foundation was a fun-filled night supporting educational grants for Wilton Public Schools.

Halloween Treats and Pumpkin Parades

The Wilton Chamber of Commerce hosted a festive Pumpkin Parade and Trick-or-Treat event this past weekend. Families enjoyed games, live music, and plenty of candy.

Decennial Holy Festival of Dussehra

I recently celebrated Dussehra at the Wilton Hindu Temple, a festival symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. My heartfelt thanks to Swami Balgopal and the Hindu community for this uplifting event.

How Wilton Works: Election Season

With the new early voting mandate, our Registrars, Annalisa Stravato-Favarolo and Karen Birck, are navigating additional complexities in managing early and absentee voting. Wilton expects a 90% voter turnout this year, so please extend your patience and support to the registrars and volunteers ensuring a smooth voting process.

Thank you, Wilton, for your continued engagement and support. Enjoy the fall, stay safe, and as always, reach out with any questions.
