Babysitting 101 for Teens

Learn how to prevent injuries by identifying what’s safe and what’s not. The major focus of this class will be on dangers in the home and safe alternatives.
The topics discussed include safe cooking practices, fire safety and burn prevention; fall injuries, poisons and allergic reactions, airway injuries; water and playground safety and trusted neighbors vs. unexpected visitors. If something unexpected does occur, participants will also learn the information that the 911 dispatchers will need to send help quickly. Overall, communicating with the parents by asking the right questions and preplanning can make anyone a very responsible babysitter or older sibling. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue will provide a Certificate of Participation for each person upon completion of this workshop. Participants ages 12-18 will also earn two volunteer service hours. For teen volunteer service hours, please register online through CERVIS using the link below: https://cerv.is/0191gUFw5jn
