Pre-Event: GIS MELA 2026 || Campus GeoHunt
GeoHunt 2026 is an exciting, interactive, campus-wide geospatial scavenger hunt designed to introduce students to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mapping, navigation, and spatial problem-solving through hands-on exploration.
Participants will navigate the FAU Boca Raton campus individually, discovering 10 designated checkpoints using maps, geographic clues, and location-based challenges. Each checkpoint will feature a short activity or question related to geography, GIS, surveying, remote sensing, or campus landmarks.
The five-hour event will combine outdoor exploration, geospatial learning, and friendly competition. No previous GIS experience is required, making the activity accessible to students from all academic disciplines.
