American pulp novelist Holly Martins arrives in Allied-occupied postwar Vienna, expecting a job from his childhood friend, Harry Lime. Instead, he discovers Lime was just killed in a suspicious traffic accident. Refusing to accept the official story, Martins investigates the conflicting accounts of Lime's death. He searches through Vienna with its cynical, war-torn underworld to find the ultimate shock. Light jacket/sweater recommended for auditorium.
