<h2 class="ql-align-center"><a href="https://anconaswine.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ee0f7d1d264ff35760e4905b8&amp;id=24a73467ba&amp;e=ddeeb7e359" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">2023&nbsp;“The Seated Rose” California Rosé</a>, p<a href="https://anconaswine.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ee0f7d1d264ff35760e4905b8&amp;id=4ee5a40709&amp;e=ddeeb7e359" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">roceeds benefit the Mark Twain Library</a></h2><p><u style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">The Wine:</u></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This is a custom bottling produced exclusively for Ancona’s wines in collaboration with a second-generation family-owned winery located in Geyserville (Sonoma County, California).&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">At some point in 2022, Mitch came to me and asked if I knew of a producer that could and would bottle a killer California rosé that we could sell for $20. The answer was almost obvious. These guys.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Without saying who made the wine—I’ve been asked to keep that under my hat—let me say, this is a producer that Ancona’s has worked with year in and year out at least since I started working here in 2011. Their vineyard holdings are loaded with really old vines and they specialize in extended barrel aging without too much influence of wood which instills them with a little old world sensibility and finesse. And custom bottling aside, their rosé might be my favorite wine they make.&nbsp;</span></p><p><a href="https://anconaswine.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ee0f7d1d264ff35760e4905b8&amp;id=d8cb955398&amp;e=ddeeb7e359" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">The Library</a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">:&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">When Mark Twain set up the library in Redding in 1910, it was his humble request that it operated without the aid of municipal funding because it was the government that had banned and censored his books. Mr. Twain contributed over 200 of his own books and was instrumental in raising money to construct the original building which still houses the original books and continues to serve as the library’s meeting room to this day.&nbsp;Pretty cool.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This project is Mitch's and Ancona's small way of doing our part to support the library which we consider a valuable asset to the community.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">"I love libraries" I've heard Mitch say more than once.&nbsp;</span></p><p><u style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">The Artwork:&nbsp;</u></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">The sketch on the front label was made by Redding resident James Grashow. James was born in Brooklyn and has produced a prolific body of work ranging from environmental pieces to sculpture, wood cuts, and especially featuring fish, primates, and botanicals.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">His works have been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, Library of Congress, and of course, the Aldrich Museum Contemporary Art Museum.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">Our friends at the Mark Twain Library helped coordinate this work for the collaboration and we’re really happy with the way it came out.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This rose uses fruit from vines that are over 100 years old.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">50% Syrah, 50% Grenache.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">It was aged in neutral oak barrels for 3 months.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Just over 100 cases made.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Have a happy Memorial Day weekend.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Codey Foster, Wine Director </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(101, 101, 101);">&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">My notes read: Fresh outta Geyserville, The Seated Rose is already firing on all cylinders. On the palate: bright acid supports just the right amount of unctuousness brought on by crunchy fresh stone fruit, another hit of sea salt, fresh herbs, and stony mineral—all which crescendos in a lengthy finish that I can’t help but notice as I write this. I love this. Redding native showcases art in exhibit at Whip Salon

<p><a href="https://www.whipsalon.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(17, 85, 204);">Whip Salon</a><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">, a popular full service salon located in the heart of the town center, is proud to announce a new art exhibition. Sarah Finucane, a local artist originally from Redding, is showcasing her work in the salon now through this September. All of the artwork is available for purchase.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">“We are thrilled and honored to display Sarah Finucane’s colorful acrylic and collage artwork on our walls for our client’s to enjoy,” said Whip Salon’s owner Amy Pal. “Sarah has also been a client of the salon for over four years and we welcome the opportunity to do our part in supporting her and other local artists.”</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">Finucane has been drawn to art since high school where she first studied art at Silvermine in New Canaan and later in college at SCAD (Savannah College of Art &amp; Design). After Savannah, she moved to the west coast for 20 years but found her way back to Fairfield County during the pandemic and has been back ever since.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">“I like to work with acrylic, typography and even some sewing,” said Finucane. “While at first glance my artwork may appear to be one canvas, if you look more closely you'll notice some of my paintings are several paintings sewn together to create a completely new one.”</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">Finucane describes her art as “modern eclectic,” a new painterly style that's intuitive and abstract. Her work is gaining wider attention, recently featured in British Vogue.
