The 2012 ImageMakers Photography Contest concluded last Thursday, March 22 with a ceremony at the Redding Town Hall. Winners and runner-ups were announced.
The contest, sanctioned by the Redding-Easton Boys and Girls Club, received more than 30 submissions from young photographers aged 6 to 18. This is an unprecedented number of photographs received in the contest’s four-year history.
The contest comprised of four age groups, (6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18). There were several categories for photo submissions, including Digital, Black & White, and Color. Local artists and photographers from the community judged the photos.
The photo contest was coordinated by high school sophomore Sophie Ota, a member of the REBGC’s Keystone Club, a community service outlet for teenagers.
Says Ota, “I was impressed by the quality of the photographs…many of them look professional, but they are the work of kids.” She adds, “I hope this contest helps entrants develop a life-time love for photography.”
