Reddingites Open New Eatery in Westport

Stephen Alward and Adam Lubarsky, the original owners of the Georgetown Saloon have opened another eatery with art-- food, paintings and music its focus. The Blu Parrot opened its doors on Wednesday to a packed house. Former Redding resident Perry Cantor is the 3rd partner and will be seen greeting most patrons along with Mr Lubarsky.
When the band Bill Genaro and Destiny began the dance floor filled immediately. The diverse American cuisine by Redding's Steve Alward shows his international influences and is reasonably priced. You can find duck ban mi, Moroccan lamb kebabs, and seafood crepes next to fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits and angus burger. There are many vegetarian and gluten free options too. Dinner is served Wed-Sun from 4 to 10. Prices range from $5 to $24 and are grouped in "small bits, cold bits, medium bits and large bits". The "naughty bits" dessert menu has everything at $6. The ice cream sandwiches feature Redding's Sweet Lee Treat's ginger and chocolate chip sea salt cookies filled with lemon and caramel ice creams respectively.The kids menu is very interesting with nary a chicken nugget in sight.
Music plays every day and night The Blu Parrot is open. Adam Lubarsky's connections in music show with the great list of bands that are already booked through the new year. Jose Feliciano sat in with the Jay Stollman Band on Friday night. Every Thursday is Pro Jam-- the Blu Parrot band will have musicians from throughout the Tri-state area jam with them. Each week night a piano player will play quietly in the background from 5-7. The bands begin at 9. Saturday and Sundays The Blu Parrot serves a price fixed brunch for $24 which includes a cocktail, coffee and entertainment. Saturdays it's jazz and Sundays the area's only Gospel Brunch.
