A Musician and Author in Our Midst: Questions for Georgie Brennan

As part of HamletHub's ongoing mission to share the stories of our friends and neighbors, we're sharing a bit about local musician and author Georgie Brennan. He was kind enough to answer some questions and share some of his favorite local spots as well as a bit about his personal journey.

Ridgefield singer/songwriter Georgie Brennan has written over 200 original songs that have been heard on MTV, iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, internet radio, and college radio. His 2013 summer anthem, This Is My Ridgefield, gained local popularity while quickly approaching 3,000 views on YouTube in the process. He has previously written the official school song for The Ridgefield Montessori School, Dear Molly Ann for the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, and Scotty Spirit Day for Scotland Elementary School.

Born and raised in New York City, Georgie Brennan has been playing the guitar for 32 years and writing original music for 24 years. Georgie Brennan and his wife Katie have lived in Ridgefield for the past ten years and have three children in the Ridgefield schools: Connor, Caroline, and Caitlin. For more information about Georgie Brennan's songs/videos/and performances, please visit his Facebook music page and kindly hit the Like button while you visit:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Georgie- Brennan/201297943248692

1. What or who do you think it was that made you want to be a musician?

My two uncles played guitar at family gatherings when I was really young, so those memories planted the seed. Hearing Eddie Van Halen when I was eleven sealed the deal.

2. If you could choose any person to be your mentor for a month, who would you choose?

I would choose Billy Joel as a mentor for one month. As a songwriter, there is no one better in the business. As a veteran musician, he can guide against the pitfalls of the business as someone who has survived over 40 years in the industry.

3. What is your favorite place in or special memory of your town, and why?

Favorite place in town is The Little Pub. Love the food and atmosphere. Favorite event is the Ridgefield Memorial Day Parade.

4. What 2 books would we find on your bedside table?

You would find my two published books- Excellence: Sons Of Xavier Forever (2003) and Bats, Brats, and Stats. (2011) They are both symbolic of passion, commitment, and personal accomplishment. Proud of both!
