Emmanuel Church’s Family Fair Set for Sept. 15

WESTON, Conn. -- Step right up for Emmanuel Church’s time-honored Family Fair -- in its 112th year! -- on Saturday, September 15, from 10am - 4pm on the parish grounds, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston. Fairfield County residents and beyond are invited to attend this family-friendly event, that will take place rain or shine.

The festivities planned are many and varied. Fairgoers will enjoy music by Weston’s own Chris Coogan from 11am - 2pm, and youth jazz pianist Karl Schultz, from 2 - 4pm. Traditional carnival fare plus ice cream and popcorn will be available. There will also be face painting, a bouncy obstacle course and a variety of children’s games.

What’s more, attendees will be invited to enter the ever-popular “Best Chocolate Chip Cookie in Connecticut” contest, back with a panel of local judges including High School Principal Lisa Deorio and St. Francis of Assisi’s Father Jeff Couture. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third Place. Bakers of all ages are encouraged to enter at no charge. Bring one-dozen, homemade chocolate chip cookies, a list of ingredients (required for entry) and your name and contact information to the contest table by Noon the day of the fair. Creativity is welcomed! The only rule is that the cookies include chocolate chips. Guidelines can be found on the church website (www.emmanuelwestonct.org).

Shoppers will delight in the selection of treasures sold via booths of every sort to include toys, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, baked goods (at Emmanuel’s “Country Kitchen”), art and autumn plants. Great finds are sure to be discovered. Cash and credit cards accepted; no checks please.

All can bid on a Silent Auction sporting a vast array of items donated from community businesses, vendors, artisans and the like. Attractive items include unique experiences, themed gift baskets and other sought-after surprises.

“Our Fair is a tradition that brings our parish and community together. We hope everyone will come out to enjoy it,” said Katy Piazza, Emmanuel Church Rector.

Fair Committee Chair Kit Hamilton also commented, “Emmanuel’s Family Fair is fun for everyone. It’s great to see so many in the community come out and enjoy the food, the great deals and stress-free environment, and just have a fun time. Country fairs, such as ours, are becoming harder to find, which is just one more reason why this event is so special.

One hundred and twelve years old, the Emmanuel Family Fair proudly fosters a home-grown atmosphere and promotes a true sense of community: a sure-fire, winning combination. Additional details can be found at www.emmanuelwestonct.org or by calling the church office at (203) 227-8565.
