Each week, look for a listing of weekend events and activities. The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members.

“Falling for Figaro” at The Greenwich Library

The “Friends Friday Film” series continues with a 2020 film about a brilliant young hedge-fund manager who tires of her unfulfilling job and decides to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an opera singer in the Scottish Highlands. She begins singing lessons with a formidable former opera diva (Joanna Lumley) and drums up a rivalry with a fellow student which may turn into something more. Following the film, REEL Talk - a Q&A segment featuring Metropolitan Opera singer Wendy Bryn Harmer, who has performed internationally in Mozart, Strauss, and Wagner operas with Opera Boston, Houston Grand Opera, and Seattle Opera, and more.
Lions Gate Trio at Fairfield Public Library

The community is invited to a Soundwaves Concert with the library’s internationally acclaimed trio-in-residence who pairs magnificence with mysticism through Brahms's C Minor trio and Beethoven’s late, exquisite Bagatelles interwoven with improvisatory moments. After the performance, enjoy a reception, hosted by The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library.
“Beyond the Surface” at Hollis Taggart Gallery in Southport

This group exhibition features contemporary paintings by five New York-based artists: Edward Holland, Will Hutnick, Emily Kiacz, Lizbeth Mitty and Erika Ranee. It highlights their attention to the physicality of technique, revealing underlying paradoxes that touch on shared themes such as control and chance, reality and illusion, as well as, transience and permanence. Wednesdays - Saturdays 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. through April 30th.
“Dear Human” at MadLab in Norwalk

Come to an opening reception for an innovative and immersive exhibition from the heart & soul of Sara Jenkins! It’s an invitation to explore what it means to be beautifully human and it showcases the intrinsic connection we have as humans – with a focus on 15 individuals, ages 5-75 , openly sharing their lived experiences. The show incorporates portrait photography, video, written and spoken word, artwork, and an installation. Food by Joe’s Food Truck.
Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra’s “JOY” at The Ridgefield Playhouse

The RSO concert season continues with an engaging concert that includes "Records from a Vanishing City" by renowned current composer Jessie Montgomery, "Variations on a Rococo Theme" by Tchaikovsky, featuring cellist Nico Olarte-Hayes, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

Known for her outlandish mayhem and foolishness, Paige leaves her audiences wanting more in her new show “Joyride.” She is a 2-time Glam Award winner and a cast member of SHADE: Queens of NYC on the Fusion Network. No need to trek into NYC - enjoy cabaret nightlife right here in Connecticut.
Nore Davis Live! at Fairfield Comedy Club

Davis is an energetic New York City based stand-up comedian whose act is full of witty quips and sharp punch lines. Davis’s style balances between observational and anecdotal humor as he takes ordinary situations and transforms them into personal, relatable, cackle-inducing stories. A late night show favorite, he recently released his third comedy album, Too Woke and filmed his first Comedy Central Half Hour which will air in Fall 2019.
Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras at The Klein Auditorium, Bridgeport
Sunday, March 6, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm
A total of 15 ensembles will take the stage during the day with Principal Orchestra debuting a new symphony by Cuban-American composer Armando Bayolo that pays tribute to the resilience of young people. Concert 1 at 1pm features Steel Pan, Percussion, Jazz, and Saxophone, Sinfonia, and Philharmonic Orchestras. Philharmonic will perform the Grieg Piano Concerto with soloist Konstantin Soukhovetski. Concert 2 at 4 pm features String, Woodwinds, Brass, and Virtuosi Orchestras, Jazz, Steel Pan, Percussion, and Principal Orchestra, which will debut Armando Bayolo’s “Once More We Saw the Stars, Symphony No. 6”
Women's Work at The Westport Library

Stamford Symphony Chamber presents Symphony violinist and musicologist, Gabriel Schaff and pianist Melody Fader, revealing the musical influences of women composers and teachers, from the 19th and 20th centuries. The program spotlights many female firsts who stood among men while blazing a well-documented trail for the many talented women composers and musicians that followed.
The New Shanghai Circus at The Ridgefield Playhouse

An annual tradition, bring the whole family to see this youthful and graceful company enthralls audiences with a range of acrobatic performances, most of them typifying Chinese circus and offering a refreshing alternative to the Western tradition, with acts that often trace their origin to the harvest festivals of more than 2,000 years ago.
“Blow, Ye Winds” at Greenwich Arts Council

The Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony bring you Jean Françaix's first quintet for winds and Louise Farrenc's Sextet anchor the program spanning the spectrum of sonorities for winds and piano, from lyric elegance to vibrant extroversion. On the program are Sofia Gubaidulina, Allegro Rustico; Jean Françaix, Wind Quintet No. 1; Louise Farrenc, Sextet for Piano & Winds, Op. 40; and Jeff Scott “Start Sumthin’.”
