Redding Police Department reports that on March 11, 2024, they received information from Bergan County New Jersey’s Prosecutors Office regarding a possible sexual assault that occurred at the Days Inn, 296 Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield, in February of 2024.
According to a police report, the Redding Police Department immediately initiated an investigation involving state and federal law enforcement partners. “After an approximate three-month investigation, a suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was obtained from Danbury Superior Court," they say.
Police say that the suspect, David Birnkrant 45, turned himself in on June 11, 2024, and was transported to Danbury Superior Court for arraignment. According to Voter Records, Birnkrant is a resident of Ridgefield. He was held on a bond of $250,000 which he could not post.
