Gofer Ice Cream, located at 407 Main Street, Ridgefield, will be closing at the end of September 2024. Franchise owner Eric Barrow, who opened the shop in October 2021, decided to launch his ice cream business after reflecting on his experience during the pandemic.
We interviewed Eric for our Why Small Businesses Matter series, where he shared that frequent ice cream trips with his family helped them cope with the challenges of homeschooling. Inspired by those outings and a desire to leave the increasingly volatile sports media industry after more than two decades, Eric saw the frozen dessert business as a fresh opportunity.
