Art Goes to the Movies: Impromptu
Join us for a screening of romantic comedy Impromptu , starring Judy Davis and Hugh Grant.
Impromptu explores the tempestuous romance between scandalous 19th century novelist George Sand and composer Frederic Chopin . Central to the film is a raucous fortnight in the French countryside with composer Franz Liszt , artist Eugène Delacroix , writer Alfred de Musset and other socialites as they eat, drink, and discuss art, life, and philosophy. There are also generous helpings of gossip, schemes, and petty rivalries. There's a farcical duel, someone hiding under a piano, and a horse ridden inside the house. Come enjoy an afternoon with the French Romantics .
